Year 9 Inter-Tutor Sports
Inter-Tutor Sports happens every year at Congleton High School, allowing some year groups to come up with a tutor team and compete with other tutor groups in a sports tournament.
Each tutor group competed in three different sports: netball, football and badminton. The tutor groups were allowed to choose their sport, and the teams were formed.
We're pleased ot report that AJF won the netball tournament, NB won football and NB won badminton. A big well done to everyone who took part, the event this year was a huge success!
Congleton High School does their bit for Sport Relief
On Friday 21st March, Congleton High held sporting activities to raise money for Sport Relief. We held a hockey penalty game on the astro turf where students could pay to take a shot at Mr Naylor or Mr Archer. We were also offering a chance to rent out netball courts and for the year 7s and 9s to give a donation and wear something red during PE.
In total, the school managed to raise £50 for Sport Relief.
Welcome to the Congleton High School BBC News Report
Our media club students have worked hard all day on 15th March 2012 to produce their own BBC News School Report. From researching the stories, filming and editing the packages to scripting and recording the studio broadcast - they did the lot. Every single member has brought something to this video and we're proud of the effort and skill that they have all demonstrated today. Please enjoy the Congleton High School BBC News Report.
We'd like to say a huge well done to the CHS media club, they have not stopped all day and the work they have produced is outstanding. All the packages are complete and we've recorded the news, we're just in the process of rendering, exporting and uploading. Fingers crossed the machines don't let us down!!!
One team are filming a story about the traffic outside school and road saftey issues.
We have 5 teams working on their own news items which include animal testing, the olympics, Afghanistan, Universal Studios, healthy eating and road safety.
At 08:00 this morning our media club team arrived at the CHS newshub ready to take part in the BBC News School Report day. They have so far been researching, scripting and recording the news ready to cut together for their packages. They have about one more hour to finish off their news items before they start work on creating their news broadcast.

Sporting Personalities meet Reporting personalities
The Media Club were extremely lucky to have been offered two VIP tickets to the televised Sports Personality of the Year Awards held at the BBC Centre in Media City, Salford, on 22nd December. It is a very presdigious evening and Adam Bailey and Jack Carson (year 9) donned their uniforms to join celebrities on the red carpet as they arrived for the event.
The boys were an absolute credit to the school and demonstrated a natural flair for journalism as they interviewed Luke Donald, Darren Clarke, Andrew Strauss, Rory McIlroy, Mo Farah, Dai Greene, Amir Khan, Alastair Cook, along with the winner Mark Cavendish and many more. Adam said "My sporting hero is Mark Cavendish and while I was interviewing him, it was like I was in a dream." For Jack his highlight was interviewing Amir Khan "he's been my boxing idol ever since I first saw him fight. He told me if you're disciplined, you can achieve anything in life". Both Adam and Jack said that being sports journalists for the evening felt really professional, "It was exciting to be part of something so big and really good to be on the red carpet with a microphone interviewing celebrities."

A practice filming day at the BBC!
On 8th December, through our links with the BBC and the BBC School Report project, CHS Media Club members Sophie, Katie and Faye spent the day writing and reporting on local and national news. They created a 10 minute news programme at the BBC studios in Salford in collaboration with three students from Malbank High School, Nantwich. After brainstorming their news ideas, the students broke off into small groups to produce packages about the recent public sector strikes, teenage stereotyping and the BBC Celebrate Sports event. Faye from Congleton and Will from Malbank were lucky enough to catch a last minute interview with footballer Phil Neville as part of their report on the BBC Celebrate Sports event.
