WELCOME

Congleton High School is an 11-18 Foundation school situated on the edge of Congleton in Southeast Cheshire, serving families from Congleton and parts of north Staffordshire. Our website aims to guide you to information about the school, its people, facilities and community links and to give access to education resources for our students.  You can access lots of information about what is happening at the school by reading our monthly newsletters and many of our policy documents, including the Prospectus, may be found in the attached links.

We are delighted that in January 2010 Ofsted inspectors have endorsed the views of our parents, students, staff and partners. All aspects of the of the school were graded as at least good, while four aspects were given the highest grade of outstanding. The inspectors made several very positive comments including:-

"...all staff are empowered to contribute to the school's impressive record of improvement"

"All students receive a high quality of care, guidance and support"

"The headteacher provides admirable and visionary leadership and he has been highly effective in developing a strong capability among the senior and middle leaders"

In 2009 we celebrated our best ever exam results with 86% 5+ A*-C at GCSE, which is significantly above the national average of 68%. We are an inclusive school with 99 % 5+A*-G, the best result in Cheshire East and one of the top performing schools in the country. At A level, our pass rate remains very high at 99% with 54% A/B grades. These outcomes are a testament to the hard work and dedication of our staff and students.

CHS

In November 2007 we opened a £1 million pound purpose-built Sixth Form Centre called "The Taylor Building", housing 200 post -16 students. It provides fantastic facilities including its own cafe, a large common room, study room, media suite and several classrooms. Each year there are limited places available for students to join from other institutions.

If you are interested in knowing more about the sixth form or would like to make an application then visit or dedicated website www.sixthformchs.co.uk.

Our school motto is ‘Achieving Success Together’ and our aims are very straightforward; to be a well led, inclusive school where quality teaching enables everyone to learn and to fulfil their potential.  Our team of outstanding teachers and support staff all work together to deliver the best possible education for our students. We have high expectations of what can be achieved and the key to our success is a purposeful community where learning is stimulating and enjoyable and is the focus of everything we do.

In 2004 Congleton High School was designated a Specialist School of Engineering and as such we work closely with a partnership of local primary (Astbury St Mary’s, Black Firs, Daven, The Quinta, Scholar Green, Smallwood and Woodcocks Well) and secondary schools, international schools, sponsors, major employers (including Siemens, AstraZeneca and Bentley), colleges, universities and other organisations in promoting excellence in subjects including Technology, Science, Mathematics and Computing as well as across the whole curriculum.

We work closely with parents, both formally and informally; in addition to being able to talk individually to your child’s form tutor or classroom teachers, we encourage parents to provide feedback and become involved in the life of the school through our Parents in Partnership group.

New parents have an opportunity to look around the school during our Open Evening which is held towards the end of September each year, and for those interested in joining our Sixth Form, our Post-16 Opportunities Evening is held annually in November.
