Welcome to the Congleton High School Web site

It is my pleasure to introduce you to Congleton High School. We are an 11-18 Foundation school situated on the edge of Congleton in Southeast Cheshire, serving families from Congleton and parts of north Staffordshire.
In 2009 we are celebrating our best ever exam results with 86% 5+ A*-C at GCSE, which is significantly above the national average of 68%. We are an inclusive school with 99 % 5+A*-G, the best result in Cheshire East. We are now recognised as one of the top performing schools in the region. At A level, our pass rate remains very high at 99% with 54% A/B grades. These outcomes are a testament to the hard work and dedication of our staff and students.
We have high expectations of what can be achieved and the key to our success is a purposeful community where learning is stimulating and enjoyable and is the focus of everything we do. Our motto is ‘Achieving Success Together’ and our aims are very straightforward; to be a well led, inclusive school where quality teaching enables everyone to learn and to fulfil their potential. Our team of outstanding teachers and support staff all work together to deliver the best possible education for our students.
The latest Ofsted inspection report in 2010 concluded : 'This is a good school with some outstanding features". The report rated all aspects of the school as at least good with four outstanding features:-
The extent to which students feel safe
The extent to which students develop workplace and other skills that will contribute to their economic well being
The effectiveness of partnerships in promoting learning and well being
The effectiveness of safeguarding procedures
In 2004 Congleton High School was designated a Specialist School of Engineering and as such we work closely with a partnership of local primary (Astbury St Mary’s, Black Firs, Daven, The Quinta, Scholar Green, Smallwood and Woodcocks Well) and secondary schools, international schools, sponsors, major employers (including Siemens, AstraZeneca and Bentley), colleges, universities and other organisations in promoting excellence in subjects including Technology, Science, Mathematics and Computing as well as across the whole curriculum.
We strive to provide high quality vocational and other learning opportunities for students through sharing resources and facilities and developing and sharing good practice. In November 2007 we opened a new purpose-built Sixth Form Centre called "The Taylor Building", which now accommodates almost 200 post -16 students. If you are interested in knowing more about the sixth form then visit or dedicated website www.sixthformchs.co.uk.
We work closely with parents, both formally and informally; in addition to being able to talk individually to your child’s form tutor or classroom teachers, we encourage parents to provide feedback and become involved in the life of the school through our Parents in Partnership group. New parents have an opportunity to look around the school during our Open Evening which is held towards the end of September each year, and for those interested in joining our Sixth Form, our Post-16 Opportunities Evening is held annually in November.
This website aims to guide you to information about the school, its people, facilities and community links and to give access to education resources for our students. You can access lots of information about what is happening at the school by reading our monthly newsletters and many of our policy documents, including the Prospectus, may be found in the attached links. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.
